I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that... I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the 70+ photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a very clean 2001 Chevrolet Astro LS EXT with just 169k miles that has had the same owner since it had 42k miles. I would rate the exterior of this Astro to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a beautiful Astro. It is finished in Green over Tan two tone with matching Tan cloth interior, which is a good color combination. The dark green finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. However, you'd be hard pressed to find anything worth complaining about as you walk around the exterior of this Astro. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood and doors all open and close easily, except I cannot get the rear lift gate to open. All of the trim and cladding is present and shows well. This Astro has the factory molded running boards, which give this van a great look. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The most significant thing to point out about the body of this Astro is the lack of rust. I couldn't find any body rust to disclose, which makes this Astro a great value. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in nice rubber with average tread showing all around. The rears are an older set of Michelin's which show some cracking on the sidewalls. This is normal for Michelin tires as they age. Pride in ownership shows throughout this Astro. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this van came in. I would rate the interior of this Astro to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The dash and headliner are clean, too. The carpets show a few marks from age but are not excessively worn. A full set of factory GM molded all weather floor mats are included. The seats are clean, comfortable and show virtually no wear. The power windows and mirrors all work properly. The power locks do not work. The audio system is original and sounds good through the factory speakers. This Astro LS also has the optional rear audio with its own headphone jacks, which is a rare option to find in one of these. The climate control system appears to be working properly and this Astro also has optional rear heating and air conditioning. The heater works well and the air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR, too. The original owner's manual is included. This Astro is a long wheelbase version, which means more storage room behind the third row. Both rows of rear seats can either be folded down or removed completely, which makes these vans among the most capable vans on the road. Again, pride in ownership shows throughout this Astro. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this Chevy came in. Mechanically, this Astro appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 4.3L Vortec V6 starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. After you drive a little, the ABS and brake lights come on. I believe there is a defective speed sensor at one of the wheels. The brakes perform well and stop this van with absolutely no problems. The engine keeps perfect temperature and keeps excellent oil pressure at all times. The big V6 makes good power and feels smooth. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with zero issues. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. This Astro has a current WV state inspection good through the end of September, 2019. If you want a van that is virtually indestructible, you want a Chevy Astro. These vans will run to nearly 300k miles with just basic service. If you're looking to get that kind of use out of a van, this one should be at the top of your list because of the condition of the body. A strong drive train does you no good if the car is falling off of it. They truly don't make vans like this anymore, and this one stands head and shoulders above most. I paid $3250 on ebay 2 years ago for this. Registered, inspected, insured currently NYC. Has Battery Doctor isolator. 150Amp fuse before isolator and 150Amp before second battery. Second full car battery in back. All run on 4 gauge quality cables. When I bought it, the windshield wiper motor was broken, and it needed some kinda shoe on the bottom. A shop charged me $750 to fix something on the underneath and replace wiper motor. To pass NYC inspection basically I spent another $850. So really this van cost me 4k to put on streets of NY legally. I then added a Battery doctor brand battery isolator under the hood, ran some good 4 gauge cable through to the back, and put a second deep cycle battery in the back. From the second battery I ran a tiger claw 3000 watt inverter and then my laptop, ran bunch of lights, fans, chargers, etc. Im leaving the extra battery and the battery doctor isolator / fuse, thats $300 bonus! If this auction goes above $2500.00 Ill add in the tiger claw inverter but not included otherwise. I also put like $100 of insulation in the walls and made window black outs with reflectix. The van has some issues, but its perfectly drivable, currently registered and inspected in NYC and my daily driver when I have to. It shakes when you brake. This month the check engine light started coming on and going off for no reason. It needs a new driver side mirror, Im just using a bungie cord to hold the existing mirror in cause who cares. AC is not working, heat works only after you get the car really revved up but heat does come on eventually. Radio is broken too, just needs a new radio unit but I know for a fact speakers and wiring work. Chevy Astro, chevy express, and chevy safari vans are classic American car that people swear by. I was on Astrosafari.com where I got all my ideas and where I totally recommend to check out and see this same van turned into anything you can imagine. Same thing on astrosafari, anything broken, theres soo much information on there. These vans have cult status. This is a high top conversion van. You can stand up in here almost. You can fit entire sheets of sheetrock, like 50 sheets in here. You can fit a queen bed in back fine. Theres tons of cool features they did in the conversion. When this was new it had a TV, VCR, N64, satellite receiver. Power windows, power locks, power seat with tons of customization and super comfy. Cruise control. This was top of the line luxury high tech in 1999 and over $30k. Its still awesome now honestly. Im only the 3rd owner and this van lived in Philadelphia until me. Thats what dealer who sold it on ebay to me said. That it had 2 owners who lived in a tiny town in Philly and why it was so great condition and low miles.
